Manufacturers and suppliers of extreme bad quality have always existed unhappy. Although, these last years, problem became more and more present with technology more and more complex, increased difficulties to handle properly these technologies, and customers less and less aware about technology.
We'll keep updated here list of manufacturers/resellers/distributors that we had to handle or already famous for their very bad behaviour. If it can help others to avoid them, perhaps they'll start to change their behaviour or disappear !
- Abaninja: swiss online accounting software for small and medium companies, produced by a major company in Switzerland: Abacus. See our dedicated article: cet éditeur sur cette page.
- Alliot: UK based distributor specialised in IoT products. You open an account with them and then they ask you to sign a NDA to get access at pricelist !
- Invoxia: french manufacturer of "trackers" for different needs (pets, boxes, packages, vehicules...) using LoRa technology. Instead to allow use of their devices with any network LoRa and/or your own gateways, devices are locked on a specific operator and so you are totally tied at Invoxia wishes.
- Ingram Micro: american distirbutor specialised in computer and IT, unable to get a proper modern online store, and in Switzerland completely ignores that we speak also other languages than Swiss german ! Impossible to unsubscribe of their mailings. Very good demo that you can sell IT and computers and be unable to use them properly for your own needs !
- Legrand: historical french manufacturer of electrical equipment but that has completely failed new technologies changes. Buy back companies producing poor quality products to try to build a catalog of IoT systems but that keeps being just a collection of products side by side and very poorly integrated together. For example, Netatmo and Bticino, that are listed here too.
- Netatmo: french manufacturer of connected devices for home for consumer market. Products designed to work only with cloud and with very unstable API since always. Products by themselves are also very bad quality and don't last, all the more their weather station. Company bought over by Legrand.
- Orange et Orange Business: french state telecom operator, that combines incompetence everywhere from commercial services up to technical services, and an internal IT infrastructure that is a total mess, not even speaking of the telco infrastructure that is ruined due to total lack of maintenance since years. They are also swindlers refusing to refund services invoiced but not supplied. See our article here about it: OBS
- Reggiani: italian quality with light products for outside that rusts, and service commercial that is everything but commercial, not even speaking insane delays to get their products. See our Article about it.
- Samsung: Quality of their products have always been more than average. Regular changes of platforms in their devices. Never been interested in getting some products that you control efficiently for home-automation. Not even speaking their after-sale service that has some out of law practices: read that article en anglais.
- Somfy: french company, unhappy worldwide leader in engines for shades and shutters. Multiply interface systems for different products, protocols that are just a nightmare of complexity, terrible sales service.
- Sonoscompilation of all the extremely bad practices a company can have ! Brick devices remotely, prevents customers to sell or give second hand their devices, sell customers data, products designed to be impossible to repair, buy some open-source projects and burry them (Snips)...
